GMAT and CAT are one of the most popular entrance exams for MBA. Many students are in confusion about choosing which one is better either GMAT or CAT.
GMAT Exam
The full form of GMAT is the Graduate Management Admission Test. It is conducted by the graduate management admission council (GMAC). There are more than 2200 graduate business school with more than 7000 MBA programs in world wide.
CAT Exam
The full form of CAT is the Common Admission Test. It is conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIMs). This is a very popular National level exam in India for business administration program.
Qualification: Candidates having bachelor’s degree from any recognised University
Age limitation: Any candidates more than 18 years are eligible
Candidates have to wait minimum 16 days to reappear in the exam.
Candidates can appear up to five times in an year.
Qualification: Candidates having bachelor degree with at least 50% marks and 45% marks for SC ST and PWD.
Final year undergraduate students are also eligible for CAT exam.
Age limitation: There is no age limitation for this exam.

You can appear maximum 5 times in a year with a minimum gap of 16 days for GMAT exam and only once for CAT exam. CAT exam is conducted annually.
The difficulty level for both exams is tough. In my opinion, GMAT is more difficult in term of paper difficulty level but in the selection process, CAT is more difficult because less number of seats are available.
The exam fee for GMAT is 250 USD (approx 18000 INR) and exam fee for CAT is ₹1900 for general and 950 for OBC, SC, ST and PWD.
Time limit for GMAT exam is 3 hours and 7 minutes (187 minutes) and for CAT exam it is 3 hours.
From GMAT exam you have choices for more than 7000 programs in more than 2200 institutions globally while from CAT exam you get admission in Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) and other business schools in India. Generally, placement in GMAT is better than CAT. So GMAT is better than CAT.
